CULTURAL SECRETARY
Looking back, three years ago, I can see a humongous shift in the mentality of the students. Apart from
academics, students have become more keen about seeking practical experience and holistic growth. The
formation of thirteen different clubs was one of the key reasons behind this approach. This has helped
giving a new shape to their mentality and thought process. And this, ultimately has contributed for the
development of GECA. This year has been going really great , it's the first time in GECA from the last 4
years, the council is working with a same intention and enthusiasm. This whole process was not a one
day show. The manifestation of this concept started in the first year of our batch. It's a result of three
years of planning, brainstorming, implementing and one year of contributing in taking key decisions of
the students' activities based on those three years. Being a CS was never an easy task. It's about taking
tough decisions which might not be appreciated at first but which is for the betterment. For me , cultural
secretary is the post who is responsible for shaping the culture of the institute. I see GECA as an institute
which is capable of contributing extraordinary engineers to the world. The faculties and students both are
well aware of the fact that only academic growth won't help achieving this dream. GECA needs to
improve the bonding between the faculties and the students. Providing financial help to the students'
activities is very important but not sufficient. Some faculty in GECA are very supportive and students
need to Extract their support as enthusiastically as possible. A good communication and understanding
between faculty and students will improve this relationship. Catalyst is a face of GECA , which depicts
the progress, memories, thought process of GECA. And I am really proud and privileged to share the
batch of the team which founded this magazine. Catalyst will be that link which will always connect us to
the wonderful life we were living in GECA.The biggest question that peeps in my mind is why people
don't take a stand for what they want? Why don't they take the first step, the initiative instead
complaining about the situation, system or people? The result of complaining or bashing, sitting in the
audience is zero. You can only see results when you become the part of the team which is playing the
game. Let's work together to make this institute great!

TECHNICAL SECRETARY
It's a privilege to get connected. I'm grateful to the faculties and the students for the support they kept
extending throughout my tenure as the first technical secretary of the college. The institute witnessed a
grand year of achievements on technical front. The orientation program in the college conducted for the
students newly admitted in the first year was first ever of its kind. Looking at the enthusiasm of the
students I'm sure that they will take this college far ahead. Team Crybrotics and Team Aryans had
spectacular achievements in Robocon 2018 and SAE BAJA Ropar 2018 respectively. In 2017-2018, our
annual technical festival WINGS reached a new zenith. This year we observed the Digital India mission
as the theme of all the major college activities. Now moving forward I hope that next generations of
GECA will not only take the activities to new heights but also focus their intent to take ideas to
innovation level especially through UG research. The digital GECA mission will have a huge
substantiation. With a satellite design in the pipeline, we hope to orbit the earth soon. This leap on the
track of technical excellence has helped to improve the placement scenario in the campus. This is the
third edition of the magazine. I have read the previous editions and I'm sure this edition will definitely be
sublime and will stand by everyone's WHY.
I would like to conclude by asking my why to GECA!
Why can't we gear up to accept the new challenges and work culture in our attitude? As being the
working generation we shall have a professional mindset to build a better future.
